چکیده

We study the paraxial wave equation with a randomly perturbed index of refraction, which can model propagation beam in turbulent medium. The random perturbation is stationary and isotropic process general form covariance that may or not be integrable. focus attention mostly on nonintegrable case, corresponds to long-range correlations, is, relevant for through cloudy atmosphere. analysis carried out high-frequency regime where forward scattering approximation holds. It reveals randomization field multiscale: travel time front randomized at short distances propagation, it described by fractional Brownian motion. observed frame affected perturbations long distances, Schrödinger-type driven standard field. use these results quantify how leads decorrelation spatial spectral components deformation pulse emitted source. These are important questions applications, such as imaging free space communications pulsed laser beams also compare those used optics literature, based Kolmogorov turbulence. show explicitly commonly approximations appropriate but fail models correlations.

Wave Propagation in Random Waveguides with Long-Range Correlations

In this paper we consider an acoustic waveguide with random fluctuations of its sound speed profile. These random perturbations are assumed to have long-range correlation properties. In waveguides a monochromatic wave can be decomposed in propagating modes and evanescent modes, and the random perturbation couples all these modes. Using asymptotic analysis of the modecoupling mechanism we give a...

Pulse Propagation in Random Media with Long-Range Correlation

Abstract. This paper analyses wave propagation in a one-dimensional random medium with long-range correlations. The asymptotic regime where the fluctuations of the medium parameters are small and the propagation distance is large is studied. In this regime pulse propagation is characterized by a random time shift described in terms of a fractional Brownian motion and a deterministic spreading d...

A General Framework for Waves in Random Media with Long-range Correlations

We consider waves propagating in a randomly layered medium with long-range correlations. An example of such a medium is studied in [19] and leads in particular to an asymptotic travel time described in terms of a fractional Brownian motion. Here we study the asymptotic transmitted pulse under very general assumptions on the long-range correlations. In the framework that we introduce in this pap...

Acoustic Waves in Long Range Random Media

We consider waves propagating through multiscale media. Much is known about waves propagating through a medium that satisfies a scale separation assumption with random fluctuations on a microscale. Here we go beyond this situation and consider waves propagating through a medium defined in terms of a long range process. Such a medium can for instance be modeled in terms of a one-dimensional frac...
